Stuck in Laemek Cover Reveal!!

Stuck in Laemek Cover Reveal!!

You’re not going to believe me when I say this… Actually, you will. It’s Stuck in Laemek’s cover reveal today!

(Technically, ten days earlier, but you guys are special, so it’s whatever).

I’ve been working on Stuck in Laemek for three years, specifically since I was thirteen, and to have it’s cover done… Wow. It’s a dream.

Am I dreaming?

I made the cover myself on Canva and Procreate. It really didn’t take that long surprisingly, and yet it’s still super cute in my opinion.

If we’re being really technical… Stuck in Laemek will be my debut novel (since Betrayal is only a novella… 😬) and I’m both super excited and super tense about it, I don’t even know why.

ANYWHOOO

For the actual reveal, the thing everyone (me) has been waiting for for three years…

If you haven’t seen my one post of SIL’s description, Stuck in Laemek Sneak Peak, then I will tell you just what the animals represent!

Anastasia is the rabbit. I’ll be honest, when I started this book, I didn’t necessarily put that much thought into the animals because I just like predator/prey in general, but because of a special someone, the meaning of her animal has changed; risen, if you will.

Anastasia is struggling within an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, and though she is feisty, she runs from her problems, hence how she even got kidnaped to Laemek in the first place.

When I think of animals, I think of their fight or flight response. For rabbits, I see them running. Anastasia does just that.

Also, not to mention, a trope between these two is Grumpy x Sunshine, but reversed. I think rabbits are seen as these cuddly, sweet creatures, but they can also be feisty, too–hence Anastasia’s aggressive characteristics.

(This is SO off topic, but now I think I need to make an SIL spin off because I just had a really good idea…. Uh oh..)

Naftrel is the wolf. He is the wolf because that’s just what he was born as in Laemek (If you also don’t know, everyone are kemonomimis, hence the use of animal characteristics).

However, Naftrel is a cuddly, gentle being. To me, I feel like wolves are more seen as these scary, feared, big and bad, sort of beings. When really… They’re just forest puppies (along with bears and sharks, but that’s not the point).

I wanted to turn two animals seen as one thing and put just a little twist to show that they can also be like these two with their animals.

Now, why is the sky pink, and why are the clouds yellow, and what’s with the grass being purple?

I’m so glad you asked, me!

In Stuck in Laemek, there is another part of Laemek that most don’t know about, and it’s called Eldmerthoden.

If you haven’t read my Christmas story, High School Reunited; A Christmas Story, then I must inform you of our character, Hjslops (pronounced as “slopes”). Hjslops is this otherwordly being called an aumturner, and aumturners are from Eldmerthoden.

And if you haven’t guessed, the cover is taken place in Eldmerthoden.

Okay, and what about the vines? What do those signify?

That, my dear, is something you’ll have to find out when you read the book. Toodle-oo! 💜
